Newport Cycle Speedway Club is to be featured in a Swedish TV programme currently being shot by a film crew visiting the UK. The crew came to a well attended specially arranged training session today to check the riding out. Impressed with what they saw, top veteran club rider Colin 'Sam' Simmons said: "they can see where the action is now".

The crew will be returning to capture footage of a home match in the not too distant future.

Cue Swedish film jokes (Sam has a few....!)

I spoke to both the Swedish TV chaps and they were well impressed with the racing. It is possible they are bringing a *headcam* which would show the racing from a riders perspective!
As Sweden has good support for Ice-speedway and motorcycle-speedway it may encourage some youngsters to take up cycle-speedway.
